Baseline Assessment The Government is planning to reintroduce Baseline Assessment to reception classes in 2020. This assessment will be a 20 minute, computer based test taken by children in their first six weeks of school. These results will be used to hold schools to account for progress at KS2 and will cost £10,000,000 to implement. These proposals have received widespread criticism from educational professionals and academics, including a report recently published by British Educational Research Association which you can download here. Here is a PowerPoint which can be used for school meetings. Also, click here for a motion that Primary groups can pass stating that they do not want to be part of the 2019 pilot, and here for a motion for secondary schools to pass in support for this campaign.
