Pensions Lobby/Camden Social on Tuesday 4th December

posted 21 Nov 2012, 07:27 by Gerald Clark   [ updated 22 Nov 2016, 03:54 ]

In the last week of the half-term, the Department for Education launched its consultation on what Teachers Pension contribution increases should be this year.

The effects of this are detailed in the table attached to the briefing below, however the main change is that they have decided to increase even more harshly the contributions of those whose total salary is more than £45,000.  This means that teachers earning less than this will benefit somewhat, but does mean that any teacher on more than £45,000 will lose £945 from their salary next year, as opposed to £720 this year.

As you will be aware, the stability of the teaching workforce in Camden means that there are a lot of us in this group.

We have called a lobby of the Department for Education headquarters on Tuesday 4th of December to protest about the unfair increases to our Pension contributions.  We are hopeful that other London associations will be able to join us. Please circulate the flier below and make sure you can come.

For any Camden members attending, we will be going to a nearby pub afterwards to celebrate the end of term with a [free] drink.
