Teachers Pay 2018

The STRB (School Teachers Review Body) gives a recommendation about teachers pay to the Government  every year. This year they have recommended a pay rise of 3.5% for all teachers. The Government have decided to ignore their advice, for the first time ever, instead awarding 3.5% only for those on the Main Scale, 2% for those on the Upper Pay scale and 1.5% for Leadership.
The National Union thinks this is unfair and divisive. The pay rise is not fully funded, so schools will have to find the extra money from their already overstretched budgets.
Some schools in Camden might be able to afford this, others might not, so what that means in Camden is that potentially, teachers doing the same job in different schools could be paid different rates.
The documents below can be used in school Union meetings. We would like all schools to write to Headteachers, Governors and our local MPs, Kier Starmer/Tulip Siddiq, to ask them to support us in our fight for fair pay for teachers and fair funding for all schools.
